David Benjes

Operations Director

David began his career in events as a triathlete. While competing in an Xterra in Minehead England on the shores of the Bristol Channel, he had a mechanical issue on the bike and ended up running his bike through the moors of Dunster Castle. He came up on an athlete that had a flat, so he offered up his wheel and the participant continued the race. While transitioning from bike to run, this other athlete told the story of the “Yank” who had given up his wheel. When David came through transition, the spectators lit up and cheered him on for his sportsmanship. After the race, Tom Kiely, the founder of the Xterra off-road triathlon event convinced David to host his own Xterra event in Arizona.

David has extensive experience in the field, including 14 years at the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series. At RnR, he oversaw the complete production & safety of their largest races, with participant counts from 10,000 - 30,000, including their San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego, & Nashville editions of the race.

David spent over 14 years would like to think his work in events provides inspiration to thousands throughout the community participating in fitness events and develop healthy lifestyles as a result.

He has built a reputation as a valuable resource throughout the health and fitness industry with well-known national governing organizations such as USA Triathlon, US Masters Swimming, USA Cycling, USA Track & Field and local government agencies across the US.

Meg Davis

Partnership Director

Meg is an admittedly obsessive runner, with a love for all things food and wine, australian shepherds, and the great outdoors! After earning a Bachelors in Business and Sociology/Pre-Law at Moravian College (now Moravian University!), she began my career in a role with a global technology company, FIS. Meg had the privilege of continuing my career with FIS through multiple roles, selling to a variety of industries, currently working to bring on new clients within our insurance technology space. During this time, Meg also obtained a Masters in Business and Data Analytics from Villanova University. Through the entirety of her career though, running has stayed constant and still does - training for her next marathon and planning for the ones after that, once you've got the bug, it never goes away! In tandem, Meg has had the opportunity to be on the founding team to bring the first ever Boulderthon to life, and bring on our sponsors and partners in order to create long term relationships for the race moving forward.

WHY YOU RUN: For the ultimate way to create new head-space, and to continue to see this beautiful place we call home! Running has been a large part of my life for years now, from starting with my first 5k to the marathons I've completed, every part has been fun, a challenge, and a constant reminder of what our bodies are capable of!
- Favorite Race: Boston Marathon! Running Boston was a huge challenge, a difficult course, and a race through bad weather, yet the environment, spectators and city made it a runner's high to remember!

Heather Hasz

Volunteer & Registration Coordinator

Heather relocated from Boston to Colorado in the Summer of 2022 - so while she may be new to the area, she is no stranger to running, races, or community engagement. Heather served as both President of the Greater Lowell Road Runners and Marketing Director for the Baystate Marathon. She brings with her a strong understanding of community engagement as well as high energy, excitement, and a wealth of experience to contribute as a member of our team and to make this race a real destination for runners from all over.

WHY YOU RUN: Running has always been a time for me when I can be myself; when my kids were younger it was 'my time' to clear my head, focus my thoughts for the day and leave anything I need to out on the road. Anyone can be a runner - if you run, you are a runner.

PR RACE: 2019 Baystate Half Marathon

WHY BOULDERTHON®: Boulderthon was the first 10K I ran after I moved here last year and I loved it so much - I raised my hand to help create the best that Boulder running has to offer!

David Kinney

Chief Credit Officer, Flatirons Bank

Like many others, David Kinney is a transplant to Boulder via the southeast (South Carolina & Atlanta). David graduated from CU Boulder in 2006 and only managed to stay away from incredible trails and mountain lifestyle for a few years before moving back in 2013. David’s love for running began late(r) in life after graduating college and moving to Atlanta. However, his commitment to more mileage and longer distances began when he returned to Boulder leading him to compete in races ranging from 5K to 50 miles (along with other, longer recreational adventures). In addition to running, David is an avid gravel biker, golfer and coast to coast traveler (given family ties on the coasts of both South Carolina and California). David is married to his beautiful bride, Rebecca, and they have two young aspiring trail runners and adventurers (girls; ages 4 and 7)

WHY YOU RUN: Primarily because I’m lazy, but also for the scenery. It’s one of the few sports where you can strap on a pair of shoes and head out the door -- minimal effort, minimal cost (though I consider myself a “gear guy”, and thus almost always have several other pieces of attire, packs, technology, etc.). Additionally, being able to access some of the most beautiful spots and views in Boulder (and really, the country) on foot keeps me coming back!

FAVORITE RACE: 2017 New York City Marathon. It’s an iconic race to begin with, but that year the conditions were perfect and it was part of an amazing get away with my wife.

PR RACE: 2017 Run Rabbit Run 50 miler – 9:16:35 on a fun, but hilly, course to finish 7th overall (though I did win the 2017 Disney Cruise 5K in 17:43 against a much less competitive field)

FAVORITE PLACE TO RUN: You can find me out on Green Mountain at least two to three days a week in the Spring/Summer

WHY BOULDERTHON®: The BolderBoulder has and always will be iconic, but in a town that is home to some many elite long-distance athletes, the Boulderthon will book-end us as an incredible race destination.
